EDMOND, Okla. (Oct. 26, 2019) – Nadav Datner scored two goals as Texas A&M International pulled away for a 5-0 win over Oklahoma Christian on Saturday afternoon.
The game was moved to Central Oklahoma's Wantland Stadium and its artificial-turf surface after heavy rain Thursday and Friday made OC's Eagle Soccer Field unplayable.
TAMIU (9-4-1, 5-2 Lone Star Conference) broke ahead in the 20th minute, when a ball came off an OC defender and went straight to Datner, who won a one-on-one battle with OC goalkeeper
Anthony Trabichet.
David Martinez put the Dustdevils up 2-0 in the 36th minute. Datner took a pass, made two touches and cut inside before shooting in the 70th minute to make it 3-0. Magnus Poulsen took advantage of a defensive lapse by the Eagles in the 72nd minute and Ruben Nielsen closed the scoring in the 81st minute.
OC (4-8, 1-5) played a man down for the final 12 minutes. TAMIU outshot the Eagles 29-10.
Thomas van der Meulen had five of OC's shots.
Trabichet made seven saves for the Eagles and leads the LSC in that category with 65 this season. TAMIU goalkeeper Josh Jones made three saves in 78 minutes, with Nicolas Heuser recording none in 12 minutes in relief.
OC will play two games critical to its LSC postseason hopes next week, visiting Eastern New Mexico on Thursday and West Texas A&M on Saturday.
