Lady Eagles fall at Southwestern in 1st road game

WEATHERFORD, Okla. (Sept. 6, 2018) – Sandra Nabweteme and Alimata Rabo each scored two goals and Southwestern Oklahoma State downed Oklahoma Christian 5-0 in soccer on Thursday at the SWOSU Athletic Complex.

Southwestern (1-2) of the Great American Conference reached the round of 16 in the NCAA Division II tournament last season and outshot the Lady Eagles 24-13. The Bulldogs took a quick lead in the 13th minute on a goal by Memory Phiri before Nabweteme and Rabo took over.

Nabweteme scored off assists from Rabo in the 15th and 22nd minute to make it 3-0 and Rabo gave Southwestern a 4-0 lead in the 43rd minute. Rabo finished the scoring in the 81st minute, with Nabweteme assisting.

OC goalkeeper Addison Milner and Southwestern goalkeeper Steffi Silvera each made seven saves.  Four players – Natalie Thomas, Denise Bennett, Dakota Milner and Brianna Concienne – each had two shots for OC (0-3).

The Lady Eagles will return home for a game Saturday at 11 a.m. against another GAC foe, Northwestern Oklahoma State. That will be OC's final nonconference game of the season.
