EDMOND, Okla. (Nov. 15, 2018) – From Oklahoma Christian's perspective, it was a basketball game the Lady Eagles will want to quickly forget.
Central Oklahoma hit 14 of 30 3-point attempts and posted a 53-31 rebounding advantage in downing OC 95-50 on Thursday at Hamilton Field House.
All 10 players for UCO (4-0) hit at least one 3-pointer, keeping defenders from OC (2-1) constantly scrambling for most of the game. The Bronchos gave themselves lots of second chances, too, thanks to 21 offensive rebounds.
Things started well enough for OC, as
Addy Clift scored eight early points to stake the Lady Eagles to a 10-4 lead a little more than four minutes into the game. But UCO then reeled off 19 straight points – a run that included five straight 3-pointers – and the Bronchos never looked back. UCO led 47-25 at halftime and 67-41 after three quarters.
Outside of Clift, who had 21 points, and
Katie Mayo, who had 10, OC didn't generate much offense. The Lady Eagles shot 24.1 percent (13 of 54) from the field.
Clift did move up three spots to No. 12 on OC's career scoring list by raising her total to 1,432, past Vickie McCann (1,419 from 1978-81), Misti Mitchell (1,419 from 1989-94) and
Katy O'Steen (1,426 from 2009-13). Clift is now just one point behind No. 11 Lisa Landrum (1985-89).
Ireon Smith (14 points, 12 rebounds), Madison Lee (14 points) and McKenna Pulley (14 points) led UCO.
OC will play three games in the next four days, starting Saturday against No. 24 Angelo State (Texas) in the Hilton Garden Inn Pioneer Classic at Texas Woman's in Denton, Texas. The Lady Eagles will play the host team on Sunday before traveling to Alva for a game at Northwestern Oklahoma State on Tuesday.
