No. 18 Oklahoma Christian won 73-61 at No. 25 Southern Nazarene Monday to stay in a first-place tie atop the Sooner Athletic Conference standings.
The Lady Eagles won their fifth consecutive game and improved to 15-3 overall and 8-1 in conference play behind 20 points apiece from senior forwards Rachel Martin and Katie Fariss.
Fariss was the Sooner Athletic Conference Player of the Week last week for her performances in wins over Northwestern Oklahoma State, Oklahoma City and John Brown (Ark.).
OC trailed early in the game and did not take a lead until the seven-minute mark when Fariss canned a three-pointer to make the score 12-10. The Lady Eagles built the lead to as many as nine points in the first half before taking a 35-27 advantage into the break.
OC led the entire second half despite a SNU rally that cut the lead to three points just six minutes in. OC pulled away, though, and a Fariss three-pointer at the 7:34 mark gave the Lady Eagles a 56-43 lead, their largest of the game.
Fariss and freshman Kailan DeCamp made 6-of-8 free throws in the game's closing minute to secure the victory.
The Lady Eagles shot 47-percent from three-point range and 43-percent from the field.
Martin recorded her third double-double of the season with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Fariss made 5-of-7 from beyond the arc, running her school-record three-pointer total to 245.
Freshman Danielle Cox scored a career-high 12 points while DeCamp finished with 13 points and seven assists.
The Lady Eagles will look for their sixth win in a row Thursday night at Oklahoma Baptist in Shawnee. The women's game will tip at 6 p.m. with the men following at 8 p.m. The Lady Eagles defeated OBU 47-43 on Jan. 11.
