Oklahoma Christian earned its biggest road win of the season with a 72-68 victory at Lubbock Christian Thursday.
In a game that was tight from wire to wire, Kyle Tefft gave the Eagles the lead to stay with 24 seconds left, hitting two free throws to make it 68-66. Tefft's free throws came after he hustled for an offensive rebound of a Charles Baldwin miss.
Micah Miles then blocked a potential game-tying shot by Jonah Broussard, allowing Oklahoma Christian to close out the victory with a pair of Tanner Hazelbaker free throws and two more Tefft foul shots in the closing seconds.
The Eagles led 27-26 at halftime, and pushed their advantage to seven points midway through the second half when a Baldwin basket made it 42-35.
LCU hung close with a pair of three-pointers by Blake Huggins and treys from D.J. Cameron and Max Eding, then took a 58-56 lead when Marques Baldwin nailed yet another shot from beyond the arc.
Micah Miles tied it right back up with a hook shot, and Keith Harris' acrobatic runner gave the Eagles a 60-58 edge. LCU tied it three times down the stretch, but OC never trailed again.
Charles Baldwin (18 points) led four Eagles in double figures. Miles scored 16, Tefft scored 14 and Harris totaled 13 as Oklahoma Christian shot 52 percent from the field and 94 percent from the free throw line.
Miles had two blocked shots in the game. He is one block away from tying the Sooner Athletic Conference career record of 223, held by Lamond Ford of Oklahoma Baptist.
The Eagles (8-9, 14-13) close out the regular season at 4 p.m. Saturday at Wayland Baptist. Pending Saturday's results, OC will be the fifth, sixth or seventh seed in next week's Sooner Athletic Conference tournament. All tournament games will be played at the Eagles' Nest.
