The OC Eagles led most of the second half before No. 2 OCU rallied for a 75-70 win Saturday. In the women's game, the No. 15 Lady Eagles committed 31 turnovers and lost 63-44.
OCU claimed the inaugural "Backyard Brawl" series three games to one.
Taking the top-ranked Stars to the limit, Eagles senior Charles Baldwin's two free throws tied the game 67-all with 2:37 to play. Senior Keith Harris' three-pointer at 1:58 gave OC a 70-69 lead, but OCU's Willie Irick scored to put the Stars on top to stay. OCU hit 4-of-6 free throws in the last minute to seal the victory.
Baldwin led the Eagles with 25 points and nine rebounds, and senior Micah Miles recorded a career game with 22 points and seven rebounds. OC is now 13-13 overall and 7-9 in league play. OCU remained undefeated at 28-0.
In the women's contest, troublesome turnovers proved fatal to the Lady Eagles. OCU took the lead midway in the first half, built a 32-19 lead at the intermission and extended their lead throughout the final 20 minutes.
OC freshman Danielle Cox had her high game of the season with 12 points. Rachel Martin finished with 10 points. The Lady Eagles are tied for second play in the SAC with a 13-3 record and 20-5 on the year. Alexandra Kotta and Romana Vynuchalova led OCU with 16 points each.
