The ninth-ranked and Sooner Athletic Conference champion Oklahoma Christian women's soccer team capped the first unbeaten campaign in school history by defeating Oklahoma City University 1-0 here Tuesday night.
The Lady Eagles finished the regular season at 16-0-2 overall and 12-0-2 in conference play.
Fresh off entering the top 10 of the NAIA national rankings for the first time in program history, the Lady Eagles shutout of the Stars was the team's 10th of the year, setting another school record (The 2002 and 2004 teams each had nine shutouts).
OC and OCU played a scoreless first half with neither team gaining a foothold. But the Lady Eagles broke through in the 65th minute.
Freshman Stephanie Duncan sent a long pass into the box from the right side. All-conference forward Taryn Caylor fielded the pass and scored past OCU's Alycia Allenby to give OC the 1-0 advantage that would be the final margin of victory.
The win propels the Lady Eagles into the NAIA Region VI playoffs. OC earned a first-round bye and will host an opponent to be determined in the regional semifinals on Monday, Nov. 6.
