Lady Eagles Lose to Top Ranked SNU

Oklahoma Christian University lost to No. 1 ranked Southern Nazarene University by an 83-59 count in women's Sooner Conference action here Feb. 23.

The Lady Eagles fell behind early as the Crimson Storm shot a red hot 56 percent from the field in the first half to push out to a 37-25 lead at intermission.

The Lady Eagles regained their shooting eye in the final minutes but the game was out of reach. Sophomores Lauren Decker and Tasha Turney hit jumpers and scored in the lane and Chelsee Truesdell and Eden Wiens contributed three-pointers. SNU's Diop, who finished with 18 points, scored the Crimson Storm's final points to set the 83-59 final.

Turney, working well around the basket, led the Lady Eagles with 19 points and Decker finished with 12. Freshman Jennifer Haynes led OC rebounding with seven.

SNU remains at the top of the Sooner Conference with a perfect 16-0 record, 28-1 overall. The loss leaves OC with a 16-13 record overall and 6-10 in league play.
