OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (Feb. 2, 2008) – Oklahoma Christian blew past Mid-America Christian (Okla.) 76-49 Saturday night. Kailan DeCamp led all scorers with 18 points in win for OC (11-10, 6-7).
The Lady Eagles used a 7-0 run to take an early 11-4 lead at the 14:51 mark on Saturday.
DeCamp nabbed a steal on the defensive end and accelerated the length of the court for an easy two to cap the rally.
OC extended the edge to eight, but the pesky Lady Evangels hung around. MACU cut the deficit to one three times and tied the score once more.Â
DeCamp broke a 21-21 tie with a one-handed conventional three-point play at the 4:43 mark.
After Haley Myers gave OC a 27-23 lead on a triple at 4:00, MACU went on a 6-1 run to take their first lead of the game. Courtney Sorrells dropped two to give the Lady Evangels a 29-28 lead with 1:40 left.
But OC answered with a 19-4 run that extended into the second half and took the lead to as many as 16.
The Lady Eagles got five DeCamp points in the first half's final 48 seconds to kickstart the charge. The Coweta, Okla., product nailed a three from the wing with six seconds left to help OC to a 33-29 lead at intermission.
DeCamp had 14 points in the first half and began the second stanza by sinking two free throws just three seconds in to make it a six-point edge.
OC immediately switched to full-court pressure, where DeCamp picked a steal and found Lindsey Gipson who made it 37-29 on a layin at 19:44.
After two MACU charity tosses cut OC's lead back to six, the Lady Eagles raced ahead with 10 unanswered. A Myers cutting score at 17:44 gave OC its first double-figure lead at 41-31.
Myers hit a three-pointer 19 seconds later, then scored an old-fashioned three-point play at 16:29 to make it 47-31.
OC put it in cruise control from there. DeCamp's fast-break score at 4:58 moved the lead past the 20-point mark at 64-43.
OC outscored MACU 12-6 in the final five minutes to seal the 27-point win.
Myers finished with 17 points on 4-of-5 three-point shooting. Kennedy had 10 points and a team-best six rebounds.
The Lady Eagles improved to 5-0 all-time vs. the Lady Evangels. OC beat MACU 77-55 last season.
The Eagles (8 p.m.) and Lady Eagles (6 p.m.) take on rival Oklahoma Baptist on Thursday night in Shawnee. Both the Bison men and women are nationally ranked.
