Men's Basketball

LCU edges Eagles, 63-57

Box score

Oklahoma Christian University's men's basketball team fell to 7-5 on the season and 1-1 in Sooner Athletic Conference play with a 63-57 loss to Lubbock Christian University (Texas) here Saturday afternoon Jan. 6.

Lubbock Christian led 30-27 at halftime, but Oklahoma Christian clawed back in the second half.

OC took the lead when senior Keith Harris went coast to coast and converted an old-fashioned three-point play with 11:09 left to give the Eagles a 42-39 advantage.

But a three-pointer by D.J. Cameron and pair of treys by Blake Huggins gave the Chaps the lead for good.

OC and LCU traded seven leads and seven ties in the second half, but 16 turnovers and a 31 percent shooting effort from the field was too much for OC to overcome.

Sophomore Marlon Word led the Eagles with 11 points on 4-of-6 shooting from the field. Harris finished with a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds. LCU's Max Eding led all scorers with 17.

The Eagles shift their focus to conference rival Oklahoma Baptist, which visits the Eagles' Nest on Jan. 11. The men's game will tip at 8 p.m. immediately following the 6 p.m. women's game.
