The Oklahoma Christian men's and women's basketball teams each earned conference victories by defeating Lubbock Christian University here Jan. 19.
The 10th-ranked Lady Eagles improved to 6-0 in Sooner Athletic Conference play and 13-4 overall by defeating the Lady Chaps 72-62.
Rachel Martin led all scorers with 22 points while also grabbing 14 rebounds for her second double-double of the season.
OC led 27-23 at halftime, but LCU rallied in the opening minute of the second half to tie the score 27-27. Martin then hit a three-pointer from the right corner to give the Lady Eagles a lead they never relinquished.
Senior Carrie Mills came off the bench to score a career-high 13 points while Carlissa Plowden added 12 and Katie Farris nine.
In the men's contest, the Eagles outlasted the Chaps in a back-and-forth second half to earn a 71-66 victory.
The 17th-ranked Eagles led 27-25 at halftime before LCU's Dustin Patterson connected on a three-pointer with 16:32 to play to give the Chaps their first lead at 36-35.
The second half featured four ties and nine lead changes before OC finally pulled away. Junior Charles Baldwin's three-pointer at the 10:12 mark gave OC the lead 48-45 and the Eagles never trailed again.
Junior Micah Miles, the nation's leading shot blocker, scored a career-high 18 points while also snatching eight rebounds and blocking three shots. Keith Harris led all scorers with 19 while Baldwin added 16.
The Eagles are now 4-2 in conference play and 14-3 overall.
The Eagles and Lady Eagles will next be in action Saturday afternoon hosting Wayland Baptist. The women's game will tip at 1 p.m. with the men to follow at 3 p.m.
