Lady Eagles, Eagles shut out Friends

Oklahoma Christian University posted shutouts in both the men's and women's games to sweep Friends University in soccer action in Wichita, Kans. on Sept. 5.

The Lady Eagles won 4-0 to raise their record to 2-0 and the men's team clipped the Falcons 3-0 to improve to a 2-1 season record.

Senior Brady Nikkel scored his fourth goal of the season ten minutes into the game on a breakaway goal after stealing the ball from a Friends defender.

Less than five minutes later senior Ivan Coco scored his first goal of the year.  A crossing pass was deflected and Coco out jumped a defender to head the ball in for the score.

Matt Finley, a freshman from Mustang, scored OC's third goal in the second half.  Edmond freshman Preston Okwuonu beat his man down the right side of the field and lifted a cross torward the goal.  Finley, at the back post, kicked the pass in for the score.

Coach Sean O'Connor's Lady Eagles jumped to an early lead on All-SAC junior Kristin Brown's first goal of the season.  Twenty-five minutes deep into the game Brown scored off an assist by All-SAC junior Taryn Caylor.

Five minutes later, Caylor also scored her first goal of the season, putting the ball in the net off an assist by Edmond freshman Heather Spencer.

OC built a 3-0 lead at halftime on an unassisted score by freshman Stephanie Duncan in the 37th minute.

Brown scored the Lady Eagles final goal midway through the second half.  Brown's 29th career goal came off a pass from Caylor, who registered her second assist of the night.

Oklahoma Christian will play McKendree College in Lebanon, Ill. Sept. 8
