SILOAM SPRINGS, Ark. (Oct. 6, 2007) - Cristian Fernandes' goal in the 89th minute gave OC a come-from-behind 3-2 win at John Brown (Ark.) Saturday.
JBU led 2-1 when OC's Tyler Brady headed in the game-tying goal off of a long Jason Frei assist with 14 minutes remaining.
The game appeared headed to overtime, but Fernandes got free in the box to force a JBU foul. The tripping call gave Fernandes a penalty kick, which the sophomore put past JBU goalkeeper Spencer Watson for his sixth goal of the season.
Supported by a boisterous Homecoming crowd, the Golden Eagles peppered OC goalkeeper Bryan Cochrum with 14 first-half shots and 26 overall. But the Eagles took a 1-0 advantage into halftime thanks to an Adam Barnes header off of assists from Frei and Ryan Frampton.
JBU tied the game 1-1 when Adrian Jasso scored in the 54th minute, then took the lead nine minutes later on Vinciuis Morais' goal.
But the Eagles rallied to earn their first Sooner Athletic Conference victory, moving their record to 1-1-1 in the league and 4-4-2 overall.
"They were really jacked up for their Homecoming, and the crowd got back into it when we fell behind," OC head coach David Scott said. "For our guys to come back after being down, that's a big result for us."
In the women's game, the Lady Eagles suffered their sixth shutout loss of the year by a 4-0 count.
After a scoreless first half, John Brown quickly got on the board after intermission when Rachel Gerdin assisted on a Sarah Kidd goal in the 48th minute.

The Lady Golden Eagles outshot OC 21-8 for the game, putting 12 shots on goal to the Lady Eagles' four.
Oklahoma Christian fell to 1-4 in the SAC and 3-7-1 overall. JBU is in a virtual tie for the conference lead at 4-0 (8-3 overall).
