
OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (Dec. 29, 2009) – The No. 4 ranked Eagles remained undefeated for 2009 with their 12th victory of the season in a 76-69 win over Sterling College (Kan.) on Tuesday night in the Nest.
The Eagles never trailed Sterling after Chad Endres started things up for the Eagles hitting back-to-back baskets giving the Eagles a 4-0 lead. The Eagles took their largest lead of the first period late in the half after an 8-0 run to leave them 15 points ahead at 32-17 with 3:30 left.
The Eagles finished the first half ahead by 11 at 33-22.
At the start of the second half, OC's Jeff Crocker put up two points before Sterling went on a 12-0 run to come within one point of the Eagles. The Eagles responded with a 20-4 run to go ahead by 17 points, their largest lead of the game.
Late in the half, Sterling came within five points of the Eagles three times before the OC men finished the game with a seven point lead to win 76-69.
The Eagles' Jason Taylor and Endres were the backbone of the Eagles' offense scoring 20 points apiece. Taylor grabbed 14 rebounds for yet another double-double performance with Endres pulling down five rebounds and passing out three assists.
Perimeter players Jeff Crocker and David Jackson also padded the Eagles' score coming away with 12 and 13 points, respectively. Crocker helped the Eagle offense click making 11 assists during the game while Jackson helped maintain possession with seven rebounds.
The No. 4 Eagles now advance to a 12-0 overall record.
The Eagles head back to the Nest on Saturday returning to conference play where they will host Rogers State University (Okla.) in a women's and men's double header. The women's game will tip off at 6 p.m. followed by the men at 8 p.m.
