Lady Eagles fall short to Southern Nazarene

BETHANY, Okla. (Feb. 6, 2010) – The Oklahoma Christian women's basketball team fell to Southern Nazarene University 70-53 on Saturday night's road game.

The Lady Eagles played from behind through the majority of the first half. With 16:25 left to play the score was tied up at 8-8 before the Crimson Storm took off on a 13-2 run to gap the Lady Eagles.

The Lady Eagles closed the gap to five with 8:07 remaining. The Lady Eagles later closed the gap to four with 2:42 left to play. Lindsay McCown controlled the paint down low scoring 10 points during the period.

The Crimson Storm responded during the last minutes of the half and regained a nine-point lead heading into halftime.

The Lady Eagles' defense stepped up at the start of the second half as they held the Crimson Storm to only three points during the first five minutes of the game. With 13:13 left in the game, the Lady Eagles came within two points of the SNU women at 42-44.

The Crimson Storm then used a 14-3 run to gap the Lady Eagles for the last time. Unable to make up the difference, the Lady Eagles fell 70-53.

Post players Brittney Kennedy and McCown led the Lady Eagles' scoring from down low. Kennedy scored 15 points while McCown put up 14 for the game in addition to eight boards.

Additionally, Lisa Chenoweth added nine points to the Lady Eagles' score.

The loss puts the OC women at 16-7 overall and 9-6 for conference play.

The Lady Eagles return home to host Mid-America Christian University (Okla.) next Thursday at 6 p.m. with the men's game following at 8.
