SHAWNEE, Okla. (Feb. 1, 2009) – The Oklahoma Christian men's basketball team endured their third loss in a row after falling 89-71 to Oklahoma Baptist University on Monday night.

After Oklahoma Baptist hit the first basket of the game, the Oklahoma Christian Eagles responded with six unanswered points to lead 6-2 early in the game. In reply, the Bison utilized an 11-0 run to regain the lead at 13-6.

The Eagles struggled to keep up with the Bison during the period shooting only 28 percent from the field in comparison to the Bison's 68 percent.

With 4:00 remaining during the first half, the Eagles trailed 35-19 before the Eagles slightly closed the gap, with the help of some free throws, to trail by 12 going into halftime.

Early into the second half, OBU took out to a 53-35 lead during the first two and half minutes.

OBU didn't let up through the remainder of the game and led by as many as 24 points during the second half.

The Eagles improved their accuracy significantly during the second half to shoot 55 percent from the field despite falling to OBU in an 89-71 decision.

Jason Taylor scored 19 points during the second half to end up with 24 for the game and more than anyone from either team. Taylor grabbed six rebounds as well for the Eagles.

Swingmen Andre Vaughn and Chad Endres scored 12 and 10 points, respectively for the Eagles with each tallying three boards. Vaughn also made four assists for the night.

Sam Stephens added another eight points to the Eagles' total of 71 for the night.

The Eagles now on a three game losing streak sit at 16-5 overall and carry an 8-5 conference record.

The Eagles will join the women in hosting the University of Science and Arts (Okla.) at home on Thursday night with the women's game starting at 6 p.m. and the men's to follow at 8 p.m.
