Basketball teams lose pair to Lubbock

LUBBOCK, Texas (Jan. 21, 2010) – The Lady Eagles and Eagles both surrendered losses to Lubbock Christian University on Thursday night. The Lady Eagles fell 76-61 and the Eagles gave up a 67-55 decision.

During the women's game, the Lady Eagles took the lead in the first period after Lubbock Christian made the first score. The Lady Eagles held the lead until 10 minutes were left in the half before losing it, unable to recover.

The OC women were down eight points at the half, their largest deficit of the period, with the Lady Chaps leading 37-29.

At the start of the second half the Lady Eagles went on a 10-4 run to come within two points of LCU before the Lady Chaps gapped the OC women for the remainder of the game. The Lady Eagles fell for the fifth time this season with the 76-61 defeat.

Kailan DeCamp led the Lady Eagles in scoring putting up an impressive total of 21 points. Post players Brittany Kennedy and Lindsay McCown assisted in the team's total scoring 13 and 10 points, respectively. Lisa Chenoweth hit three shots from behind the arc to add another nine to the total in addition to making four assists and four steals.

The Lady Eagles carry a 14-5 overall record and sit at 7-4 for conference play.

In the men's game, the first half was a back-and-forth match for the Eagles as they endured six ties and two lead changes before ending the first half down by four points at 29-25. Neither team led by any more than five points during the period.

The Eagles were never able to regain the lead during the second half, yet came within one point of the Chaps twice. With 10:23 left in the game the Eagles trailed 45-44 before the Chaps took out on a 15-4 run to lead by 12 with only 3:00 left to play.

The Eagles were unable to recover from the deficit and took their third loss of the season from the Chaps.

Andre Vaughn and Jason Taylor took the majority of the scoring load for the night tallying 18 and 17 points, respectively. Jeff Crocker added another seven points along with making four assists.

The Eagles are now 16-3 overall and 8-3 in the Sooner Athletic Conference.

The OC basketball teams will remain in Texas to play Wayland Baptist University on Saturday. The women's game begins at 1 p.m. with the men's to follow at 3 p.m.
