BETHANY, Okla. (March 4, 2010) – The Oklahoma Christian women's basketball team suffered a close 60-55 loss to Rogers State University in the first round of the conference basketball tournament on Thursday.
After scoring the first point of the game on a free throw, the Lady Eagles never led the Lady Hillcats for the remainder of the game, despite holding a close contest throughout.
The Lady Eagles tied up the game three times during the first half, unable to regain the lead. The third tie at 11-11 came with 13:34 showing on the clock after Kailan DeCamp hit an inside jumper.
The Lady Eagles later came within one point with 8:16 left to play before RSU went on an 8-0 run to lead by nine points. In retaliation the Lady Eagles utilized a small run to come within three points with just 1:01 left to play before the RSU women hit two last minute baskets to lead by eight going into halftime.
In the second half, the Lady Eagles came back within two points with 15:42 still left on the clock. Incapable of taking the lead, the OC women fell to a 10-point deficit with just under nine minutes to play.
With 3:47 left the play the OC women were again within one point of the Lady Hillcats before the RSU women went on a 7-0 run to lead by eight points. The Lady Eagles struggled to make up the difference and fell 60-55.
Kailan DeCamp held strong for the Lady Eagles throughout and registered 21 points during the match. Counterpart Lisa Chenoweth added another 12 points to OC's score and made two steals.
Brittney Kennedy remained steady down low to put up 10 points for the Lady Eagles and grabbed four rebounds.
The first round loss leaves the Lady Eagles with a 19-12 overall record and a 12-11 record for conference play.
