Katy O'Steen had 12 points and nine rebounds for OC in an 87-62 win over Southwestern Christian.

OKLAHOMA CITY (Dec. 10, 2011) – Katy Clift scored 20 points and Oklahoma Christian shot a season-best 50 percent from the field as the Lady Eagles rolled to an 87-62 win over Southwestern Christian on Saturday in the Eagles' Nest.

OC (5-4) finished 31 of 62 from the field, including 11 of 25 (44 percent) from 3-point range. Clift led the way with a 6-for-11 performance from behind the arc. The Lady Eagles recorded 22 assists, a number that pleased coach Stephanie Findley.

"I'm really proud of the teamwork tonight," Findley said. "Twenty-two assists means we were looking for each other and hitting shots. I love how hard this team plays."

In the first meeting between the schools, OC trailed Southwestern Christian (3-9) only once, at 2-0. Roz Hamilton and Clift both hit 3-pointers for the Lady Eagles in the first two minutes as OC started the game on a 21-7 run.

OC led by as many as 19 points in the first half and was ahead 43-32 at halftime. A 14-2 run that included two 3-pointers by Clift put OC up 59-38 with 11:30 left and Southwestern Christian never seriously threatened after that.

OC's lead eventually ballooned to 31 points before the Lady Eagles settled for the 25-point final margin.

Katy O'Steen added 12 points (on 5-of-8 shooting) and nine rebounds for OC. Skyler Newberry scored 13 points and Hamilton had 10 points to go with four rebounds, four assists, three steals and two blocked shots.

Ciara Thomas and LaPorchea Sanders each scored 10 points to lead Southwestern Christian, an NAIA Division II program. Southwestern Christian shot 32.8 percent from the field (21 of 64).

The Lady Eagles will travel to Florida for games Dec. 19-20 in the Daytona Beach Shootout. OC will play Shawnee State (Ohio) on the 19th and St. Thomas (Fla.) on the 20th. OC's next home game will be New Year's Eve against Sooner Athletic Conference rival Oklahoma City University.
