Katy O'Steen scored 25 points for OC in a 90-64 loss to No. 15-ranked Southern Nazarene.
OKLAHOMA CITY (Jan. 5, 2012) – Katy O'Steen matched her career high with 25 points, but only one other Oklahoma Christian player reached double figures as the Lady Eagles lost 90-64 to No. 15 Southern Nazarene on Thursday night in the Eagles' Nest.
OC (7-7, 2-5 Sooner Athletic Conference) kept it close for a half against SNU (10-4, 4-2), but the Crimson Storm wore down the Lady Eagles in the second half and gradually pulled away. Abbey Marra had 23 points and 13 rebounds for SNU while Oumoul Thiam and Logan Martin scored 17 points each.
OC never led but was within 21-20 11 minutes after a 3-pointer by Tarynn Branscum with nine minutes left in the first half. The Lady Eagles had two chances to take the lead, but those resulted in a missed shot and a turnover. Martin then hit a 3-pointer for the Crimson Storm to start a 17-5 run that put them up 38-25.
SNU led 40-33 at halftime and the Lady Eagles came no closer the rest of the way. SNU steadily built its lead to 26 points during the half.
The Crimson Storm posted a 53-30 edge in rebounding and shot 54.5 percent (30 of 55) from the field, compared to 29.4 percent (20 of 68) for OC.
Logan McKee was the only other OC player to reach double figures, with 10 points.
