Eagles fall at Rogers State

CLAREMORE, Okla. (Feb. 27, 2010) – The Oklahoma Christian men's basketball team suffered a 74-46 defeat on the road to Rogers State University (Okla.) on Saturday night in the last regular season game.

The Eagles found it hard to score during the first half against Rogers State as they fell to an early 9-0 deficit. After Jason Taylor got the Eagles on the board nearly seven minutes into the game with a free throw, the OC men didn't find the basket again until Taylor scored down low with 7:30 showing on the clock.

The Eagles shot just 24 percent in the first half, and trailed the Hillcats 22-3 with 7:04 left to play. The 19-point deficit was the largest of the half for the Eagles, who headed into the locker room trailing 29-13.

The first half shortfall was too much for the Eagles to make up for in the second half. Increased shooting accuracy (40 percent) did not keep the Eagles from falling farther behind as the Hillcats increased their lead through the remainder of the game.

During the second half, the Eagles put up 33 points to the Hillcats' 45 to leave the OC men with a 74-46 defeat in their last regular season game.

Taylor and Devan White led the Eagles for the night, scoring 14 and 11 points, respectively. Taylor pulled down seven rebounds in the process.

Izea Lovejoy added another nine points to the Eagles' total along with seven rebounds and two steals.

The Eagles finished out the regular season 22-8 and earned a 14-8 Sooner Athletic Conference record.

The Eagles now turn to postseason play and the SAC tournament, which starts on Thursday, March 4.
