Farris, originally from Lawton, graduated from OC in 1982. He worked for 28 years for the Oklahoma Tax Commission, from September 1982 until October 2010, serving as the agency’s deputy director for compliance before retiring and starting his position at OC a few months later.

His primary job responsibility is to oversee compliance with NCAA rules on the OC campus and among the university’s stakeholders. Among other duties, he oversees the NCAA national letter of intent program at OC, certifies academic eligibility, monitors recruiting, reviews team schedules and helps prevent amateurism violations.
