Sport, Wellness and Recreation Management major … Burst onto scene in 2013 with outstanding freshman campaign that included earning indoor NCCAA All-America honors … As a sophomore in 2014, became the third OC student-athlete to win a national decathlon title, taking top honors at the NCCAA Championships … When healthy, potentially one of the top multi-event competitors in NCAA Division II … Sat out the 2015 season due to injury … Has personal-best marks of 6,529  points in the decathlon; 4,783 points in the heptathlon; 176 feet, 9 inches (53.88 meters) in the javelin; 120 feet, 2 inches (36.62 meters) in the discus; 16.00 seconds in the 110-meter hurdles; 4:54.52 in the 1,500 meters; 50.56 seconds in the 400 meters and 10.98 seconds in the 100 meters … 2016: Earned All-South Central Region honors in the decathlon and All-Great American Conference first-team honors in the javelin … During indoor season, competed in a half-dozen events … Best performances were a 7.28-second clocking in the 60 meters and a personal-best time of 8.72 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles, both in the Nebraska Tune-Up … During outdoor season, posted a NCAA Division II provisional qualifying score in the decathlon – a career-best 6,529 at the Oklahoma Baptist Invitational – although he didn’t make the final field for the national meet, ranking 26th overall in D-2 … That score did eventually earn him All-Region honors, however, in the decathlon … Was limited by injury at the Great American Conference Championships in Shawnee, and so couldn’t finish the decathlon in that meet, but did earn All-GAC first-team honors in the javelin, placing third with a throw of 160 feet, 8 inches (48.97 meters) … His best javelin throw of the season – 176 feet, 9 inches (53.88 meters) at the OBU Invitational – was less than two feet off OC’s school record in the event … 2015: Did not compete during the indoor or outdoor seasons … 2014: During the indoor season, qualified for the NCCAA Championships in the heptathlon … At the national meet in Bourbonnais, Ill., finished second (for the second straight year) with 4,783 points to take All-America honors … In the heptathlon, took top honors in the 60 meters (7.15 seconds) and was second in the shot put (41 feet, 1½ inches/12.53 meters) … During the outdoor season, qualified for the NCCAA Championships in the decathlon and won the national title with a career-best score of 6,428 points … Entered the final event, the 1,500 meters, with a two-point lead, but pulled away from the favorite, Justin Young of Azusa Pacific (Calif.), and eventually finished third to seal the overall win … In decathlon competition, took top honors in the 110-meter hurdles (16.00 seconds), shot put (41 feet, 1 inch/12.52 meters), the 100 meters (11.35 seconds) and the 400 meters (51.06 seconds) and was the runner-up in the high jump (5 feet, 10½ inches/1.79 meters) and pole vault (12 feet, 11½ inches/3.95 meters) and third in the discus, javelin, long jump and 1,500 meters … Joined NAIA decathlon champions Jeff Bennett (1969 and 1970) and Gary Hill (1972) on an exclusive list of OC national titlists in the grueling event … Was OC’s only individual national champion in 2014 … Also qualified for the NCCAA meet in the javelin, finishing sixth with a throw of 151 feet, 10 inches (46.29 meters) … Competed in two other decathlons during the season … At the Kansas Relays, scored 6,083 points, and took top honors at the Cowley Tiger Decathlon with 6,280 points  … 2013: Finished second in the heptathlon at the NCCAA Indoor Championships, posting a career-best score of 4,736 points to earn All-America status … Also an outstanding hurdler and sprinter, ran as part of OC’s 4x400-meter relay team at the NCCAA indoor meet, a squad that finished 13th in 3:35.24 … Never finished outside the top three in any of the three heptathlons in which he competed during indoor season … During outdoor season, competed in the decathlon … Posted score of 6,016 points at the Cowley Tiger Decathlon on April 11-12 … Competed in five events at the Heartland/McMurry Invitational on April 19-20, highlighted by a second-place finish in the javelin with a mark of 133 feet, 5 inches (40.67 meters) … Qualified for NCCAA Outdoor Championships in the decathlon – with the fourth-highest regular-season score in the NCCAA – but missed meet due to injury … Previous school: Attended Deer Creek High School in Edmond … As a senior, earned Big All-City honors from The Oklahoman after finishing second in the Class 5A state meet in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 39.37 seconds … Also finished second in the 110-meter hurdles at the 5A meet, recording a time of 15.07 seconds … As a junior, was fifth in 5A in the 110 hurdles (15.45 seconds) and 300 hurdles (39.98 seconds).
