TAHLEQUAH, Okla. – Oklahoma Christian men's soccer suffered its first loss of the 2026 season Saturday, falling 3-2 to Northeastern State at DeLoache Field.

The Eagles wasted little time getting on the scoreboard. Just 2:36 into the match, Tyler Ackah-Wheatcroft scored off an assist from Igor Caballero to give Oklahoma Christian an early 1-0 advantage.

Oklahoma Christian's early advantage did not hold, as Northeastern State responded with goals in the 14th and 30th minutes to take a 2-1 lead into halftime.

The Eagles came out looking for the equalizer in the second half, but a penalty kick in the 61st minute extended the deficit to 3-1. Oklahoma Christian continued to battle and pulled within one in the 72nd minute when Kenzo Shabazz-Edwards found the back of the net off Caballero's second assist of the match.

The Eagles were unable to find the equalizer over the final 18 minutes as Northeastern State held on for the 3-2 victory.

Oklahoma Christian finished with 13 shots, including five on goal, while Northeastern State recorded 16 shots and seven on goal. The Eagles held a 5-2 advantage in corner kicks. Dante Caffaro played all 90 minutes in goal for OC and recorded four saves.

Caballero led the Eagles offensively with two assists while taking three shots. Ackah-Wheatcroft and Shabazz-Edwards each recorded a goal, with Ackah-Wheatcroft putting both of his shots on frame.

The road does not get easier for the Eagles this week, facing off with No. 6 Rogers State on Wednesday, September 9th at 7 p.m. in Claremore, OK.
