SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Oklahoma Christian men's soccer earns the 1-0 victory over Drury on Saturday at the Lake Country Soccer Complex. The win moves the Eagles to 2-0 on the season.
After being held without a shot in the opening 45 minutes, Oklahoma Christian came out aggressive in the second half. The Eagles broke through in the 56th minute when Kenzo Shabazz-Edwards found the back of the net off an assist from Grayson Schmidt, giving OC a 1-0 advantage.
Dante Caffaro anchored the Oklahoma Christian defense with a strong performance in goal. Caffaro played all 90 minutes and recorded six saves to earn the shutout. Drury finished with 12 shots and six on goal, but Caffaro and the Eagle defense kept the Panthers off the scoreboard. Drury controlled much of the offensive pressure in the opening half, outshooting OC 8-0, but Caffaro made four first-half saves to keep the match scoreless heading into halftime. Oklahoma Christian flipped the momentum after the break, outshooting the Panthers 7-4 over the final 45 minutes.
The men will be back in action Wednesday night, September 2nd as they are set to host the Jets of Newman at Eagles Soccer Field at 7 p.m.
