Caballero Makes History as Eagles Crush Tigers In a 5-2 Victory

EDMOND, Okla. - Oklahoma Christian (3-2-2) took down the Tigers of Central Christian of Kansas (4-3-1) for their final game on non-conference play. 

What Went Down 

  • The Eagles came out swinging in the first half, out-shooting the Tigers 12-2 in the first 45 minutes. 

  • The Eagles opened up the scoring with Igor Caballero, scoring the first goal in the 10th minute of play. 

  • The Eagles would put another on the board with a goal from Joep Claassen, with fancy footwork in the box to find the net in the 19th minute of play. 

  • The Tigers fought back with a goal of their own in the 19th minute of play. 

  • Caballero answered back quickly with his second goal of the game in the 25th minute, coming off an assist from Claassen. 

  •  The Eagles scored one more before the break, with Owen Anforth finding Luis Alvis to score the fourth goal of the game.

  • Caballero made history in the 64th minute of play, scoring his third goal and becoming one of the few Eagles to claim a hat-trick.

  • Central Christian would score one last goal in the 85th minute of play but would leave Eagles Soccer Field with the loss. 

Notes 

  • Caballero is the first men's player to score a hat-trick since 2013. 

  • Head Coach Neil Hilton is also among the list of past Eagles to score a hat-trick, claiming his in 2011. 

  • Caballero, after scoring his first collegiate goal a few games ago, has now scored four in his career. 

  • Claassen scored his second goal of the season and 11th of his career. 

  • With Alvis' goal tonight, he is now at two for the season. 

  • The Eagles outshot the Tigers 20-5.
