Goodyear, Arizona - No. 22 Oklahoma Christian finished out their week in Arizona with the RJGA Women's Palm Valley Classic hosted by Western New Mexico University.
Round 1Â
The Eagles started round one, Friday morning, with a strong performance finishing with a 290 (+2). This put the Eagles just one stroke outside of second place going into round two.Â
The Eagles were led by a stellar 2-under performance from Maria Torres and in a great spot to make a run at the individual title.Â
Haley Blevins and Sofia Benavides also gave strong round one performances. Blevins finished even par, 72 and sitting inside the top-10 and Benavides came in with a 1-over 73.Â
Susana Granados rounded out the scoring for the Eagles in the first round with a 75 (+3) and looked to finish strong in round two.Â
Abbey Lynn put up a solid round, finishing with a 80 and looking to improve in round two.Â
The Eagles also took Allie Sullivan to compete as an individual and get some good experience against a stacked field. Sullivan finished round one with an 87 and worked to improve on round two.Â
Round 2Â
As the winds came into play in round two, the Eagles would hang tough to shoot a 299 (+11) to finish second as a team in front of many Lone Star Conferences opponents.Â
Torres warped up play with a 73 (+1) and tied for third individually. This is her third top-3 finish this spring.Â
Blevins and Benavides both finished with a final round 75 (+3) to help the Eagles claim this second place finish.Â
Completing round two with a 4-stroke improvement, Lynn shot a 76 to solidify the Eagles finish.Â
Granados and Sullivan both played a solid final round finishing up with a 78.Â
The Eagles have now finished their regular season tournaments. In the teams eight outings, they have claimed two victories, two second place finishes, and three other top-4 finishes.Â
