Round 1
The day started with rain and cooler temperatures, this led the Eagles to find birdies all over the course, setting themselves to hold a two-stroke lead over conference foes St. Mary's.
Maria Torres shot an impressive 4-under on the front to finish the day with a 73 (+1) and in third place. Torres sits four strokes back of first place and will look to make the push in the final round tomorrow.
Sofia Benavides and
Haley Blevins finished the first round with 75 (+3) and sit inside the top 10.
The Eagles also saw strong rounds from Abbey Lynn shooting a 78 (+6) and
Susana Granados shooting 79 (+7).
As a team, the Eagles finished round one with a 301 (+13) and sat in the first place.
Round 2
As the ground dried out from yesterday morning's rain and the soft conditions on the greens began to firm up, birdies became hard to find on the course for the Eagles.
Haley Blevins led the way for the Eagles today, shooting a second-round 73 (+1). This gave Blevins a 4-over finish and tied for ninth overall five strokes back from first.
The Eagles had three more golfers finish in the top-20 with
Maria Torres and Sofia Benavides shooting a 77 (+5) in round two. Torres finished tied for thirteenth and Benavides finished in solo sixteenth. Abbey Lynn finished a strong second round with a 76 (+4) and tied for the twentieth.
Susana Granados wrapped things up for the Eagles with a second-round 80.
The No. 22 Eagles finished the tournament in third as a team behind two conference foes St. Mary's and host school West Texas A&M.
