Adversity Plagues Eagles in Loss to No. 22 Mustangs

WICHITA FALLS, Texas - Oklahoma Christian (5-3-3, 2-1-1) took on the defending conference champions, No 22. Midwestern State (6-1-2, 3-1) in an adversity-filled game to pick up their first conference loss of the season.

What Went Down

  • Despite the Eagles' early strong defense, the Mustangs scored a goal in the 18th minute of play.

  • After a tough penalty call in the 18th minute, the Eagles would now be facing the top team in the conference down a man.

  • Pepe Hintershuster laid out at the end of the first half to keep the Eagles just down one going into the half.

  • The Eagles came out of the half looking to score quickly, and Igor Caballero blasted past the Mustangs' defensive line to tie the game at 1-1 in the first minute of the second half.

  • Midwestern State would grab the lead back in the 56th minute of play off a set corner piece.

  • The Mustangs continue to execute set plays well, adding two more goals to their lead, to beat the Eagles 4-1.
