CLEVELAND - National appearance from men's and women's swimming, indoor and outdoor track, softball, and men's and women's golf lifted Oklahoma Christian to its highest finish in the Learfield Director's Cup final standings.
The Directors' Cup standings measure the overall strength of a university's athletic program. The scoring system awards points based on a school's finish in NCAA Championship events. Scores are counted for men's and women's basketball, baseball, and women's volleyball. Additionally, up to 11 of the highest scores from other sports can be included in the final score.
The Eagles placed 56th in the final standings, which shattered the last year's program-high ranking, which came last when OC came in at No. 100.
OC's climb up the rankings has skyrocketed in the past two years, with the previous highest Directors' Cup finish coming in 2018-19, when it finished 130th with 157 points. OC was 180th in the Cup standings in 2015-16, its first season as a full Division II member, 208th in 2016-17, and 140th in 2017-18. No standings were kept in 2019-20 and 2020-21.
Oklahoma Christian had the fourth-best finish among the Lone Star Conference's seventeen teams, finishing behind West Texas A&M (2nd), Angelo State (10th), and Texas Tyler (46th).
Grand Valley State (MI) won the Director's Cup for an NCAA DII record 15th time.
