Claassen’s brace leads Eagles past Bisons

Oklahoma City, Okla. - Oklahoma Christian (5-0-1) added another win to the win column today at Eagle Soccer Field against the Bisons of Harding (0-5).

The win came in a dominant fashion as they outshot Harding 13-6 with 9 shots on goal, and possessed for most of the match.

The Eagles scored their first goal in the 5th minute on a penalty kick from Joep Claassen. Claassen, a senior from the Netherlands, stepped up and buried the shot in the bottom left corner with the goalie diving the opposite way.

Harding, after not possessing much of the first half, strung a few possessions together and scored off of a header on a corner kick in the 39th minute.

OC responded quickly though, as another foul was drawn in the box and Claassen stepped up for another PK. Claassen elected again for the bottom left corn, this time the goal guessed it, but Claassen powered it through for his second goal of the match.

Claassen's brace now gives him 3 goals on the season, after scoring earlier this season against Newman.

The Eagles weren't done though, in the second half, Alfa Barry buried his first goal of the season in the 65th minute. The goal came off a loose ball in the box on a corner kick, and Barry gathered it by the far post and shot it right by the keeper.

"Happy to get another win and we were able to get a lot of guys on the field to build up some depth." head coach Mitchell Sowerby said after the match.

The Eagles are back at Eagle Soccer Field this Wednesday at 7 P.M. in a non-conference match against a conference opponent, Midwestern State.
