LaRue, Hamel to serve as athletic communications GAs

OKLAHOMA CITY (July 2, 2022) – Walker LaRue and Landon Hamel will serve as graduate assistants in Oklahoma Christian's athletic communications office during the 2022-23 academic year, OC assistant athletic director for communications Murray Evans said Saturday.

LaRue, from Whitehouse, Texas, competed as a member of OC's men's golf team during the 2018-19 and 2019-20 seasons. He spent the 2021-22 academic year as a student worker in the athletic communications office, assisting with game operations including statistics, announcing, running scoreboards and other duties.

He served as a host for OC's annual Spring Sing variety show in 2021 and 2022. He graduated from OC in April with a bachelor's degree in Sports Management.

Hamel, from McLoud, graduated in April with a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. During his final semester, he served as OC's head intramural student athletic director, helping with scheduling, opening and closing athletic facilities and hiring and scheduling student officials.

He also served for three years as the athletic director for social service club Chi Lambda Phi.
