Oklahoma City, Okla. - Last week, the then No. 17 Oklahoma Christian fell to the then No. 4 Midwestern State in a non-conference matchup. This week, the RV Eagles (7-1-2, 1-0 LSC) won the one that counted against No. 3 Mustangs (6-1-2, 0-1 LSC) at Eagle Soccer Field.
The Eagles took their first lead in the twenty-second minute of the match after Isaias Silva made a run in the box and drew the foul. His teammate, Joep Claassen, stepped up to take the penalty and blasted it past the diving goalkeeper for his fourth goal of the season.
Midwestern State responded in the twenty-ninth minute on a free kick, and it was played into the box and headed into the back of the goal. The goal sent the game into halftime tied, 1-1.
Oklahoma Christian didn't take long to regain the lead out of the break, a barrage of shots, with a couple of deflections, ended with the ball at Isaias Silva's feet, and he buried his third goal of the season.
Silva's goal went on to be the game-winner and provided the Eagles with a Lone Star Conference opener win at the Eagle Soccer Complex.
OC will hit the road for their next conference matchup on Wednesday, where at 7 p.m. they will take on Lubbock Christian. The Eagles won a matchup against LCU earlier this season, 3-0, in a non-conference match in Oklahoma City.
