Box Score LUBBOCK, Texas (Sept. 22, 2021) – Oklahoma Christian outshot Lubbock Christian (Texas), but LCU rode the momentum of two first-half goals to a 2-0 win over the Eagles on Wednesday night at the LCU Soccer Field.
In the mandated nonconference game between two Lone Star Conference foes, OC (1-2-2) posted a 20-16 advantage in shots over Lubbock Christian (3-2).
The Chaparrals scored in the 11th minute when Jacopo Ghezzi put a loose ball inside the six-yard box into the net after an earlier shot he took was blocked by an OC defender. In the 31st minute, Ivan Muanze-Bengono headed in a corner kick by Fernando Flores to put the Chaparrals ahead 2-0.
OC's best scoring threat was
John Osadolor Ighede, who forced Lubbock Christian goalkeeper Braxton Thorne to make three saves (of his four overall during the game) during a six-minute stretch late in the first half. Ighede led the Eagles with six shots, while fellow substitute
Michele Perina had three.
