DUNCAN, Okla. (July 15, 2021) – It was a roller-coaster round for Alyssa Wilson on Thursday, but the Oklahoma Christian golfer survived and emerged as the winner of her flight in the Women's Oklahoma Golf Championship at The Territory Golf and Country Club.

Wilson, a rising sophomore from Yukon, blew a four-hole lead in the span of five holes but didn't panic, never falling behind and eventually beating Kim Bell of Norman 1-up to win the President's Flight, the second-highest flight in the annual tournament.

Wilson, seeded fourth in the flight, started fast in the title match, winning holes No. 2, 3, 4 and 5 and recording a birdie on the par-5 No. 2. But Bell, seeded 10th, answered by winning the next three holes and tied the match by taking the par-4 No. 10.

A par on the par-5 No. 11 gave Wilson the win on that hole and put her back in the lead and a birdie on the par-4 No. 14 allowed her to keep it, as Bell also birdied that hole.

Bell again evened the match at No. 15, a par-5, as Wilson bogeyed the hole. But a par at the par-4 No. 16 proved enough for Wilson to win that hole and she halved both the par-3 No. 17 and the par-4 No. 18 to seal the win.

Wilson had advanced to the title match with a semifinal win Wednesday over her former Yukon High School teammate, top-seeded Ashlyn Acosta, who's now a freshman at Redlands Community College in El Reno. Wilson's quarterfinal opponent on Tuesday, Chrissy Bagwell of Edmond, was disqualified. Wilson had received a first-round bye in the bracket.

Wilson played in four tournaments for OC during the 2020-21 season, recording a scoring average of 80.22 over nine rounds. She tied for seventh in the West Texas A&M Fall Invitational in Amarillo, Texas, in October, which was her first collegiate top-10 finish.
