LUBBOCK, Texas (Feb. 22, 2021) – More than five-and-a-half months after originally scheduled, Oklahoma Christian's men's soccer team finally will make its regular-season debut on Wednesday.
Coach
David Scott's Eagles will visit Lone Star Conference rival Lubbock Christian (Texas) at 6 p.m. at the LCU Soccer and Track Facility to start their campaign, which was moved from its usual fall-semester spot on the college sports calendar due to the COVID-19 pandemic. LSC teams are playing an eight-game schedule, with a conference tournament set at the end.
OC also will mix in two nonconference games, one against LSC member Dallas Baptist (Texas) and another against Newman (Kan.), which once shared the Heartland Conference with OC. The Eagles' home opener is scheduled for March 2 against Texas-Tyler.
It's been so long since the Eagles played – Nov. 9, 2019 – that their opponent that day, St. Edward's (Texas), now no longer has a program, having dropped it in 2020. OC started the 2019 season with four wins in its first seven games before finishing 5-11.
Two of OC's top three scorers from 2019 – senior midfielder
Carlos Trapero and sophomore forward
Thomas van der Meulen – return for this season, as does junior
Anthony Trabichet, a two-time all-conference selection as a goalkeeper.
