BERKELEY, Calif. (Dec. 12, 2021) -- The USA Futsal Federation has named former Oklahoma Christian soccer player and coach Steve Scott as its new vice president, according to a post on the organization's Facebook page on Sunday. 
 
Futsal is a modified form of soccer played with five players a side, usually indoors on a court with boundaries. The USAFF is the leading governing body and advocate for futsal in the U.S., supporting youth, adult and professional versions of the sport. It is affiliated with the Association Mundial de Futsal (AMF), the world's governing body for futsal.
 
Scott has served as the USAFF's youth national team head coach and is actively involved in the sport close to home, as a member of the Oklahoma Futsal Association and the director of operations for Oklahoma-based Nutmeg Futsal. 
 
Scott played for OC in the mid-1990s and served two stints on OC women's soccer staff, working as a volunteer assistant from 2004 to 2008 and as the director of recruiting for the 2015 and 2016 seasons. 
 
He's also worked as a women's assistant coach at Southwestern Christian and USAO, NAIA programs that compete in the Sooner Athletic Conference. At the high school level in Oklahoma, he's served as a head coach for Yukon's girls team, Capitol Hill's boys team and Chickasha's boys and girls teams. In 2006, Scott was named as The Oklahoman's All-City boys coach of the year. 
 
United Soccer Coaches (formerly known as the National Soccer Coaches of America) has honored Scott seven times, three times as the Oklahoma Large School High School Girls State Coach of the Year and four times as its Oklahoma Small School High School Coach of the Year.
