TULSA, Okla. (Oct. 26, 2021) – Oklahoma Christian tied for 10th in the Tulsa Cup women's golf tournament, which ended Tuesday at MeadowBrook Country Club.
The 5,966-yard course proved challenging for all of the 94 players in the tournament, with the winning player (Gam Songprasert of West Texas A&M) finishing at 6-over-par over three rounds and the winning team (WT) at 41-over.
Birdies were hard to come by, with OC's five players combining for only four in the final round while posting a team score of 309 – which was the fourth-best score of the day in the 19-team field. The Eagles' overall score was 941.
Sophomore
Wilma Merenmies of Raasepori, Finland, led the Eagles, tying for 17th in the 94-woman field after shooting a 4-over-par 76 to close at 232, after closing out a 74 in her second round to start the day. One shot back, tied for 21st, was junior
Alexandria Bennett of Plano, Texas, who also shot a 76 on Tuesday after finishing the second round with a 77.
Freshman
Haley Blevins of Edmond shot a final-round 77 and tied for 34th at 236. Freshman
Sarah Sherrard of Moore finished 59th at 243, posting an 80 on Tuesday. Freshman
Sofia Benavides Herberth of San Luis Potosi, Mexico, had an 82 on Tuesday and tied for 74th at 249.
The tournament was the last of the fall season for OC. The Eagles' spring-semester schedule will be announced in the coming weeks.
