DENTON, Texas (Sept. 20, 2020) – It's taken longer than hoped for due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but the first Oklahoma Christian student-athletes to compete during the 2020-21 academic year will begin their season on Monday.
Four members of OC's women's golf team will play as individuals in the DBU Classic, which will be hosted by Dallas Baptist (Texas) on Monday and Tuesday at Wildhorse Golf Club at Robson Ranch in Denton.
The 54-hole event will begin with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start on Monday. Players will play 36 holes on Monday, followed by 18 on Tuesday. Teams competing in the event will include many of OC's Lone Star Conference rivals, including the host team, West Texas A&M, Midwestern State (Texas), Texas A&M-Commerce, Texas-Tyler, Lubbock Christian (Texas), Cameron and Arkansas-Fort Smith, along with Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference programs Colorado Christian and Westminster (Utah).
OC won't field a full team in the event because three team members remain outside the U.S. due to the pandemic and others are battling injuries. But senior

Greg Lynn opted to play in only three tournaments during the fall season, with the idea to play in six or seven regular-season events during the second semester, when the team will hopefully be at full strength. The Eagles are also scheduled to play this fall in the West Texas A&M Fall Invitational at Tascosa Golf Club in Amarillo, Texas, on Oct. 5 and in Oklahoma City University's Sydney Cox Invitational on Oct. 12-13 at Lincoln Park Golf Club in Oklahoma City.
The 2019-20 season ended abruptly in early March due to the pandemic and the NCAA later ruled that Division II spring-sport athletes would not be charged with a season of competition, meaning they will enter the 2020-21 season at the eligibility level they were at for 2019-20.
Last month, the Lone Star Conference announced that golf, tennis and cross country would compete as scheduled this fall.
