CORAL GABLES, Fla. (June 29, 2020) – For the third straight season, Oklahoma Christian led its conference in the number of players named to the All-America Scholar award list, which was released Monday by the Women's Golf Coaches Association.
Three OC players made the list –
Alexandria Bennett, a sophomore Math Education major from Plano, Texas;
Shaley Goad, a junior Nutrition and Exercise Science major from Wheeler, Texas; and
Felicity Wittenberg, a sophomore Nursing major from West Pymble, Australia.
OC's three players were among 1,401 (across all levels of college golf) honored by the WGCA. Of those, 26 were from Lone Star Conference member schools, and no other LSC school had more than three honorees. OC led the Heartland Conference in total honorees during that league's final two seasons. The Eagles are coached by
Greg Lynn.
To qualify for the WGCA honor, a player must have a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.5, be of high moral character and of good standing at her university and have played in at least 50 percent of her team's regularly scheduled competitive rounds during the season.
Goad and Wittenberg received the award for a third straight year, while Bennett now is a two-time recipient.
