Wilma Merenmies recorded nine birdies over two rounds to lead Oklahoma Christian on Monday in the Dallas Baptist Women's Fall Classic.
Merenmies, from Jyvaskyla, Finland, shot rounds of 2-under-par 70 and 74 at Wildhorse Golf Club and stood at even-par 144, in eighth place in the 69-woman field. She trailed the individual leader, Emma Thorngren of Missouri-St. Louis, by nine shots.
Of the 13 teams in the tournament, seven were in the most recent NCAA Division II coaches' poll and another received votes. No. 17 OC stood seventh after the first two rounds at 606, posting team scores of 302 and 304. No. 10 West Texas A&M led with a score of 586, one shot better than No. 1 Dallas Baptist.
Also ahead of OC were Texas A&M-Commerce at 592, No. 23 Midwestern State (Texas) at 594, No. 9 Arkansas Tech at 595 and Missouri-St. Louis at 601.
Merenmies had five birdies in her opening round and four in her second round, helping offset a pair of double bogeys. OC junior
Shaley Goad of Wheeler, Texas, had four birdies while shooting a 72 in the second round, following a first-round 76. At 148, she was tied for 12th.

Alyssa Wilson (81-84) was 58th at 165.
The Eagles will tee off in the final round at 8 a.m. Tuesday, grouped with No. 20 St. Edward's (Texas) and North Georgia.
