OKLAHOMA CITY (Sept. 14, 2019) – Northeastern State scored twice late in the first half and the RiverHawks rode that lead the rest of the way to a 3-1 win over Oklahoma Christian on Saturday night at the Eagle Soccer Field.
Northeastern (2-2) outshot OC by a 21-11 count but didn't break through until the 32nd minute, when Aaron Ugbah sent a short cross from the right side to a charging Tom Singhgolden, who scored from about 12 yards out.
In the 39th minute, Jameson Biles scored on a scramble in front on the net after a NSU attacker knocked down OC goalkeeper
Anthony Trabichet, leaving the goal open. That put the RiverHawks ahead 2-0.
Ben Walker scored in the 68th minute to make it 3-0. OC (2-2) scored in the 77th minute, collecting the loose ball after a couple of rebounds off NSU players and putting it past goalkeeper Justin Hinman. It was the first collegiate goal for Arendse, a freshman from Colleyville, Texas.
Trabichet made six saves for the Eagles, while Hinman made four for Northeastern.
The Eagles won't play at home again for almost a month, with four straight road games on the schedule. The first of those will be next Saturday at Dallas Baptist (Texas).
