TAHLEQUAH, Okla. (Sept. 10, 2019) – A late swoon kept Oklahoma Christian from winning the team title, but the Eagles held on for a solid third-place finish in the Northeastern State Women's Classic, which ended Tuesday at Cherokee Springs Golf Club.
OC had three players finish in the top 10 in the 75-woman field, led by junior
Shaley Goad of Wheeler, Texas. She posted a 4-over-par 76 for an overall score of 151, tied for third. It was the fifth top-three finish of her collegiate career.
Junior
Felicity Wittenberg of West Pymble, Australia, led the tournament for a time on Tuesday and posted her best collegiate finish ever, tying for seventh at 153 after a final-round 79. She led the field with seven birdies. One stroke behind Wittenberg, tied for ninth was sophomore
Alexandria Bennett of Plano, Texas, who shot a final-round 76 on the 5,964-yard course.
Playing in her first collegiate tournament, freshman

Elin Eriksson of Sweden, a transfer from McLennan (Texas) College, shot an 82 and tied for 46th at 155.
Aitana Hernandez of Northeastern State won the individual title, finishing at 147 after a final-round 75.
In the team race, OC started the day in third place and edged into the lead for a few holes, but the Eagles were 10-over-par over the final four holes and posted a team score of 306. That left them at 614 for the two-round tournament, one shot behind runner-up Henderson State (Ark.) and five behind Rogers State.
The Eagles will play in two weeks in the Dallas Baptist Women's Fall Classic, set for Sept. 23-24 at Wildhorse Golf Club in Denton, Texas.
