EDMOND, Okla. (June 7, 2019) – Oklahoma Christian signee Alyssa Wilson of Yukon finished as the runner-up in the Oklahoma Golf Association's Junior Girls Championship, which ended Friday at Kickingbird Golf Course.

Wilson finished 10th during the stroke-play portion of the tournament on Monday and Tuesday at 20-over-par, putting her safely in the group of 16 golfers who advanced to match play. She then started springing upsets.

First, she beat No. 7 seed Maisie Liddell of Ardmore 1-up, then knocked off No. 2 seed Maddi Kamas of Kingfisher – the reigning prep All-City player of the year as chosen by The Oklahoman – 2 and 1 on Wednesday

In the semifinals on Thursday, she beat third-seeded Raychel Nelke of Pocola 2 and 1. Wilson took top-seeded Brooklyn Benn of Edmond the distance in the title match Friday before Benn won 1-up.

Wilson, who made the All-City first-team list along with Kamas and Benn, signed with OC last November. As a senior, she won six tournaments, finished fifth in the Class 6A state tournament at Earlywine Golf Course in Oklahoma City and was named to the Oklahoma Coaches Association's All-State list.
