Rigsby takes Heartland weekly award for 2nd time

OC junior Abigail Rigsby won the Heartland's weekly award for the second time this season.
OKLAHOMA CITY (April 10, 2019) – For the second time during the 2018-19 season, Oklahoma Christian golfer Abigail Rigsby was named Wednesday as the Heartland Conference's women's player of the week.

Rigsby, a junior from Courtenay, British Columbia, played in two tournaments in a five-day span. She won the first one, taking the title in the Mustang Intercollegiate, hosted by Western New Mexico at Palm Valley Golf Club in Goodyear, Ariz.

She opened with a 2-under-par 70, then closed with a solid 73 to finish at 1-under 143, only the eighth time in OC's program history that a player had finished under par for a tournament. In a five-woman playoff, she birdied the first hole (No. 18) to take home the trophy from the 116-player event.

It was Rigsby's third career collegiate win and her second of the 2018-19 campaign. She also was named as the Heartland's player of the week in October after winning the Oklahoma Intercollegiate at Lawton Country Club in Lawton.

Rigsby and the Eagles also played Monday and Tuesday in the West Texas Desert Invitational at The Lodge at Ventana Canyon in Tucson, Ariz. She was OC's highest finisher in that tournament, placing 14th in the 85-woman field after shooting 74-78—152 on the par-72 course.

The Eagles will begin play in the Heartland Conference Championship on Sunday at Slick Rock Golf Course in Horseshoe Bay, Texas.
