Box Score CANYON, Texas (Sept. 16, 2017) – For one half, Oklahoma Christian played perennial regional soccer power West Texas A&M on close-to-even terms, but unfortunately for the Eagles, that didn't last.
West Texas A&M scored a goal late in the first half, then added three more after halftime to pull away for a 5-1 win over OC on Saturday afternoon at The Pitch.
West Texas A&M (3-2, 1-1 Heartland Conference) took the lead in the 35th minute on a goal by Reece Shattle, but OC's
Garrett Blume headed a throw-in by
Anthony Buchanan past goalkeeper Alexander Vencel in the 43rd minute to tie the game. It was Blume's second goal in as many games and his team-high third this season.
The Buffaloes quickly answered, scoring 46 seconds later when Stefan Andjelic pushed a rebound off a corner kick past OC goalkeeper
Gianluca Marchetti, then made it 3-1 in the 51st minute on a header by Julio Vargas.
It was 4-1 after Troy Reeves scored on a header in the 72nd minute and Rafael Vasconcellos wrapped up the scoring for West Texas A&M in the 85th minute, scoring on a rebound after Marchetti had saved a shot by Schattle. The Buffs outshot OC 12-0 in the second half and 17-5 during the game.

OC (2-3, 0-2) will host Heartland North Division rivals Newman (Kan.) on Thursday and Rogers State next Saturday.
