Box Score OKLAHOMA CITY (Sept. 17, 2016) – With 10 minutes to go between Oklahoma Christian and West Texas A&M on Saturday afternoon, it was anyone's soccer game, with WTAMU clinging to a one-goal lead.
But two goals in 22 seconds for West Texas A&M ended the Eagles' hopes and the Buffaloes finished out the 3-0 win at the Eagle Soccer Field.
West Texas A&M (4-2, 1-1 Heartland Conference) outshot the Eagles 22-10 and limited OC (2-4, 0-2) to only two shots on goal, by
Cody Cook and goalkeeper
Evan Helker, the latter on a free kick from midfield in the final minutes. West Texas A&M goalkeeper Patrick Satorie saved both, his only saves of the game.
Helker played well in goal, making seven saves, and had little chance of stopping West Texas A&M's first goal. In the 21st minute, Tom Cowling's initial shot from about 18 yards out was blocked by a defender, but the ball caromed to Mirza Dizdarevic, who scored from 12 yards out to put the Buffaloes ahead.
Cowling hit the crossbar in the 63rd minute before Cook's shot on goal in the 72nd minute. Jake Wiffen gave the Buffaloes a 2-0 lead in the 83rd minute on a 10-yard volley after an assist by Filip Janic, and seconds later, Dizdarevic scored again, this time on a 12-yard volley.
After a five-game homestand, the Eagles will be on the road for their next two games, on Thursday at Newman (Kan.) and on Saturday at Rogers State.
