Oklahoma Christian University nailed back-to-back shutouts on John Brown University as the Lady Eagles remained undefeated with a 2-0 victory and the Eagles took a 1-0 decision in soccer action here Oct. 24.

Redeeming an early-season tie, the Lady Eagles improved their record-breaking string to 14-0-2 overall and 10-0-2 to lead the Sooner Athletic Conference.

The Eagles solidified their playoff chances with their 10th win of the season against three losses and a pair of ties. OC is 6-3-2 in SAC play.

"Our girls did an excellent job," Lady Eagle head coach Sean O'Connor said. "They were patient, organized and took advantage of their opportunities when they came to us."

After 44 minutes of scoreless action, freshman Heather Spencer scored her second goal in as many games and her third of the season only eight seconds before half.

Junior Meagan Pless free kicked from the top left corner of the box to Spencer, who was cutting to her left from the center of the field. She left-footed a running shot past the goalkeeper for the score.

OC added an insurance goal in the 84th minute when Spencer found junior forward Kristin Brown closing in from midfield. Brown took Spencer's pass and drilled a score into the back right corner of the net. It was Brown's 16th goal of the season and the 43rd of her career.

The 2-0 shutout was the ninth of the season for the Lady Eagles, which ties the school record set by the 2002 and 2004 national tournament teams.

In the men's contest, the Eagles scored in the 84th minute to sweep the season series between the two schools. After trading kicks, OC junior defender Jason Frei booted a long ball past everyone. Senior Brady Nikkel outsprinted the JBU backs and one-touched the ball past the goalkeeper for the score. The goal was Nikkel's team-leading 12th of the season.

The Lady Eagles return to action against Northwestern Oklahoma State in Alva Saturday night (Oct. 28). A win or a tie in that game will clinch the SAC championship for the Lady Eagles.

The OC men's and women's team close regular season play when they host Oklahoma City University Oct. 31.
