CHICKASHA, Okla. (Nov. 7, 2008) – Oklahoma Christian and Science and Arts of Oklahoma couldn't settle their Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament quarterfinal game in two overtimes Friday, resulting in a 2-1 Drover victory by shootout.
USAO won the shootout 4-2 to advance to the semifinals of the conference tournament.
The Drovers (13-2-1) scored the game's first goal in the 32nd minute when Wesley Costa handled the ball out of crowd and snuck a shot into the left side.
The Eagle defense got tough from there and gave its offense a chance to tie the game. OC (6-8-3) took advantage in the 73rd minute when Neil Hilton scored off an assist from Cristian Fernandes to lock things at 1-1.
The first overtime saw the Eagles outshoot the Drovers 2-1, then USAO managed a 1-0 shot edge in double overtime. All-SAC goalkeeper Bryan Cochrum had one save in extra time and six in the game for the Eagles.
The setback comes on the same day that three Eagles were named to the All-SAC first team. Ryan Frampton (defender), Fernandes (forward) and Cochrum (goalkeeper) all received the honor on Friday.
