The OC men's soccer team made a strong case for a national ranking with a 3-2 overtime loss at No. 3 Southern Nazarene Saturday (Sept. 2).
Battling back from a 0-2 deficit at halftime, Oklahoma Christian forced SNU to overtime before falling in the extra period.
Nine minutes deep in the second half, the Eagles controlled and penetrated low to the right side of the net. Junior Phillip Hoover lifted a cross past the far post and freshman Tyler Brady drilled a header back into the net for the score.
In the 68th minute, Cristian Fernandes passed low and hard across the goal and freshman Ryan Frampton kicked it back from the left side to tie the score 2-2.
In the overtime, a free kick by SNU was wide of the goal, but a clearing attempt caromed back goalward. SNU's Dominique Nayaga touched the ball to Hossein Karani who scored.
The Eagles are now 1-1.
